Hello all supporters,
Thank you so much for your patience and support. We have several updates on the status of Violet.
1- Violet app on Android and iOS
For the past 4 months, we have spent most of our resources focusing on developing and testing the companion App for the Violet device. We believe it is important to put things right in the first place. The development cycle took a lot longer than we expected. It started from (a) designing a UX/UI, (b) developing the supporting cloud services, (c) alpha and beta testings, and (d) App store approval process.
(a) Designing a UX/UI – This is where users interact with Violet. Therefore, we have put a lot of thoughts into the design. We want to make sure that it is user friendly, intuitive and expandable.
(b) Developing the supporting cloud services – The mobile App programing was only a part of the complete App development process. To host and secure user accounts and profiles, we had to build a back-end cloud service from the ground up. Though our back-end does not directly interface with users as the front-end user interface does, it is crucial to design it right from the start. We designed and tested the database tables to make sure that it is bug free, secure, reliable and scalable.
(c) Alpha and Beta testings – The Alpha (internal) and Beta (limited external) testings were conducted to make sure that the App is reliable. We spent several weeks working on Alpha testing before releasing the App to the limited external testers for Beta testing. Currently, our App is in the beta testing phase.
(d) Store approval process – As of today, the Android App has been approved by Google and ready for release. The iOS version is currently in the process of being reviewed by Apple and we are expecting it to be approved this week. Our iOS App had some technical issues that needed to be addressed to comply with the Apple’s App store policy.

2- Violet family (Violet App and Violet Plus)
To simplify our marketing message, we are rebranding the Violet device to “Violet Plus” and calling the companion App the “Violet App“. Although the users can use our free App without the Violet Plus device, there are significant limitation on the features. For example, the App cannot automatically track your sun exposure. You have to carry your phone, which most of them are not waterproof. We developed the stand alone App to be an interactive educational tool about the effects of UVs on the users body.
3- Violet is a registered trademark by Ultra.
Recently, Violet was approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a registered trademark by Ultra, Inc. Therefore, we can use the symbol R with a circle around it. We know, it might not be a relevant update to you but we thought it was pretty cool 🙂
4- Violet Plus user interface
As the Violet App development progressed, we realized we had to significantly improve the way users will interact with Violet Plus. The device was designed to be used without the app in wet conditions such as swimming pools. The app is mainly used to register the user profile, set targets, and look at advanced data and insight. Because Violet Plus is waterproof and has a long battery life, the most intuitive way to interact with it without compromising those features is to gently tap it. Depending on the tapping combination, Violet Plus displays important information such as the percentage of UV dose accumulated and your daily dose of natural vitamin D. The device also vibrates to alerts the user of important notifications. The attached video demonstrates the tapping feature of Violet Plus.
We are committed to delivering Violet® Plus as soon as possible. We will keep updating you on the development progress. Please follow us on our social media to receive more frequent updates.
